The Climb
I never understood why people tried
to climb up to those mountaintops so high.
When they said it was fun I thought they lied.
And from down here you could still see the sky.
But then one day I looked around and saw,
I’d been wrong as a person can be.
There’s some reward to scraping your hands raw.
So why don’t we climb this one, you and me?
There might not seem to be much point to it,
And you may feel that we’re going nowhere.
But I promise we’ll be done in a bit,
You’ll look back on this fondly once we’re there.
Having put into action what we’ve learned,
We’ll see that new horizon that we’ve earned.
