The Gulf
The Gulf
The mighty gulf does glow with subtlety,
Lights from the rigs so far out in the deep.
The boats with men who shrimp so quietly,
Pass by the rigs with souls they need to keep.
The valiant men sail through the lonely night,
And curse the giant waves that cause them fear.
Up to the moon they look when shore’s in sight,
And pray they will return with shrimp so dear.
As daybreak comes the men look towards the land,
And say farewell to rigs and men who stay.
Back in the gulf so deep and dark with sand,
A single fish sets forth to start its day.
The gulf commands the men once more to go,
And seek the bounty from the dark below.
