The Face of Mother Earth
Skies the color of shadows
Clouds the color of thunder
Trees dead and swaying in the still breeze
Grasses the color of bright ebony
A little girl walks the streets alone looking for life
Her long ebony hair blows in its own wind
Dead flowers decorate her hair in a crown fit for the dead
Her white tattered dress is still as death itself
Tears of pain flow out her eyes
For her search comes up empty
Her bare feet take slow steps forward
While her tattered bunny drags the ground
Abruptly she stops walking, she stares at me
And looking at her I see the heartbroken face of Mother Earth.
