I Love Me, I Love Me Not
i watch the flowers die,
petal by falling petal,
coming to rest at my feet.
i wander around quickly,
hair over eyes and head down,
passing the people on the street.
though no one would guess
the cross that i bear
just by looking at me.
i wonder if everyone i pass by
is carrying a cross heavier than mine
and if i’d be able to see.
now screams and sobs behind me,
the pain of my family and friends
is not enough to make me eat.
i watch the flowers die,
petal by falling petal,
coming to rest at my feet.
