Game Day
Monday through Thursday
I drag feet through the hall
There’s too much time
The minutes pile on
Yet Friday is different
It doesn’t feel the same way
The smiles, the cheers
Because its game day
My shoulders are square
Standing up straight
Almost bounding through the hall
Eating cookies my football buddy made
Classes fly by
Hours are too short
Before I know it
I’m running through that smoke
Staring at the scoreboard
On the field
In my pads
Sweating hard
Then shaking hands
How I wish everyday was Friday
Too many game days to remember
The practice, the sweat is worth it…
At least until December
