Escape
I thought that I was out of harm's way
I looked behind me
But I was wrong, a man in gray
Pointed at me.
I heard footsteps, rapid and near
I ran like a frightened hare
A deep, booming voice reached to my ear
But I kept running, my hair
Whipping in the wind.
I darted out and into shadows
Of looming buildings, my mind
In frenzy. People stared down from windows,
But I didn’t care.
I kept running like a wild and free mare
