Iftar
As day gives way to night, the call is heard
The fast is broken with a simple date
The faithful gather, words of thanks conferred
For sustenance, a blessing, a fate
With open hearts and tables full of food
The bonds of friendship and of faith grow strong
The simple act of eating, nothing crude
A moment cherished, not a moment long
The Iftar brings together young and old
The rich and poor, the stranger and the friend
For in this meal, no one is left cold
And love and kindness always find an end
So let us break our fast with joy and grace
And welcome all to share in this embrace.
