Pushing and Pulling
(Verse 1)
They tell me
To be as perfect
As perfect
As perfect
As you can be
They say
Study Right
Do everything you can
They say hold on tight
Don’t stress yourself out
And they keep
(Chorus)
Pushing Pushing Pulling me
In different directions
Why can’t they see
It’s not what I want
It’s not what I need
Pushing
And
Pulling
And
Stretching me
(Verse 2)
They tell me
Fix your hair right And
hold on tight
Hold on tight
Cuz it’s
gonna be
A bumpy ride They tell me
everything will be fine
Even when its not
And they are
(chorus)
Pushing Pushing Pulling me
In different directions
Why can’t they see
It’s not what I want
It’s not what I need
Pushing
And
Pulling
And
Stretching me
(Verse 3)
Ooh Ooh
I need someone
To tell me
To do what I want
To be who I be
And I remember
He says
I’m perfect
He says you’re just fine
Just remember child
You’re mine
I made you
To be you
And not who they say to be
(Bridge)
He pushes me
To try harder
But he tells me
I’m a fire starter
He says I did alright
He’s the only one I have to please
When I’m down on my knees
He pulls me up up up
When I say help me please
He gives me Just what I need
To be me
To be me
instrumental
I’m imperfect
But perfect
As can be
As can be
As can be
For me
For me

I wrote this piece about middle school. I'm constantly having to do different things my parents, teachers and friends want me to do. It seems like I never have time to do what I love, but then I remember that God is the only person I have to please and not everone else. With God I am truly happy.
