An Oceanic Life Lesson
I'll never give up on us
The water is rough, but just
Hold tight to my hand
I will help you to stand
The shore's out there calling our names
See, we thought we could swim in this ocean called life
Without any lifeguard, without any advice
How foolish to think that Poseidon was nice
He threw a tsunami, then turned us to ice
The water was freezing, had me all shivering wet
And the skies grew darker as the sun began to set
They told us we would drown
We had to prove them wrong
Who were they to say we couldn't get along
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily
I never said that life was a dream
But I believe we can make it if there's you and me
I'll never give up on us
The water is rough, but just
Hold tight to my hand
I will help you to stand
The shore's out there calling our names
Then, you started to sink like a piece of seaweed or kelp
And I acknowledged the fact that we needed some help
But not from the ones who tried to hold us back
They'd just say I told you so and laugh at our lack
I tried to scream to a fisherman across the way
My voice was carried away by the winds and the waves
The sky was black now and I couldn't hold you much longer
When I turned and saw a light that made my bones feel stronger
We reached the lighthouse and they gave us blankets to warm our bones
The lighthouse keeper said we didn't have to do this on our own
Sometimes we think we can make it alone
When we really need the help of someone who knows more
It's okay to ask for help; it's okay to get advice
Better to be safe than to pay the final price
So if you're out there and you're sinking to the ocean floor
Just reach out your hand and we'll pull you to shore
We'll never give up on you
Just keep on pushing through
Hold tight to our hands
We will help you to stand
The shore's right here at the end of the day
