Last Cigarette
August 28, 2014
I made a promise that I would quit
My days are getting worse
I made a promise to commit
Though I feel I was coerced
Nothing that the sweet stench of cigarettes
That can't make my day better
Though they'll leave me with nothing but regrets
So I pull tighter on my sweater.
I know you're just trying to help me out
Trying to keep me living longer,
I know what this is all about
And I know that this will make me stronger
Nothing that the sweet stench of cigarettes
That can't make my day better
Though they'll leave me with nothing but regrets
So I pull tighter on my sweater.
I guess i have to reinvent me,
Because smoking was my only vice
I have to change, this I do see
Though sometimes wish I were suffice
Nothing that the sweet stench of cigarettes
That can't make my day better
Though they'll leave me with nothing but regrets
So I pull tighter on my sweater.
I wanna be me, but I wanna be free
There's no taking this back
And I assume you would agree.
Though it feels like I'm under attack.
Nothing that the sweet stench of cigarettes
That can't make my day better
Though they'll leave me with nothing but regrets
So I pull tighter on my sweater.
So with my sweater pulled close
And the strum of guitars between my fingertips
I swear, there'll never be another
Cigarette between my lips.

My friends and family care enough about me to make me quit smoking. Let's see how that goes.
I would appreciate comments.
