What if?
What if we all stopped
and took a look around?
What if we helped people up,
before they hit the ground?
What if we waved,
or gave a smile,
or even said hello?
What if we stepped out of our own little worlds,
and began to know?
What if we sent that E-mail,
signed the card,
or made the phone call?
What if we reached out to someone else,
and learned what words cannot tell?
What if we all tried, for someone else?
Gave some of our time
to try to help?
Break away from our selfish chains?
And complimented,
instead of calling names?
What if we sent that sent that E-mail,
or dried their tears,
and left our fears?
What if we reached out to someone else,
and learned what words cannot tell?
We'd see the other side,
what the smiles hide,
what's there, beyond the skin,
we'd know the pain within.
We'd see the other side,
the lakes of tears never cried,
we'd get a taste of life,
beyond ourselves.
What if we all stopped,
and looked around?
