You own everything that happened to you. Tell your stories. If people wanted you to write warmly about them, they should've behaved better. -Anne Lamott, from Bird by Bird: Some Instructions on Writing and Life.

My feet remain cold, they try find yours
Under sheets on your bed
As the rain from the storm
Wakes you from your dreams
You smile at me, sleep in your eyes
I touch the lines on the side of your lips
Kiss me now, kiss me now

With the light from the lightening shining through the windows
All I see are the shadows in the contours of your face
Beautiful, in half the manner you're in

And the thunder makes me jump a little closer in your arms
You laugh about my fears but they make you feel in charge
I lean my head on pillows and breathe in your scent
It's 3 am on Sunday laying in your bed
Kiss me now, kiss me now

You fingers touch my hair, pulling back the pieces
I hide in your hands
You hold my face so still
Like you don't want to miss me breathe
I laugh at your smile, sleep still in your eyes
We've got a few hours till morning still
Kiss me now, kiss me now
With the beat from the rain hitting your roof
My only proof that this night is longer than it seems
I am only beautiful, in the shadows of you

And the thunder makes me jump a little closer in your arms
You laugh about my fears but they make you feel in charge
I lean my head on pillows and breathe in your scent
It's 3 am on Sunday laying in your bed
Kiss me now, kiss me now

You lean in so close I can taste you on my lips
Your fingers brush my cheeks warm from the blush
My leg runs up yours and rests on your hips
We're so close, anticipation making me lust
For you to, for you to kiss me now

And the thunder makes me jump a little closer in your arms
You laugh about my fears but they make you feel in charge
I lean my head on pillows and breathe in your scent
It's 3 am on Sunday laying in your bed
The lightening surrounds us in waves of reflections
Hitting off the mirrors in your bedroom
All I can see is your face next to mine
Breathing in so gently just waiting to find

My lips, dancing with yours
So impatient, you're my heart
You know I can't fall asleep until
Your lips meet mine

Half a second, now it's gone
Ritual has passed it on
And I’m free to sleep
Free to dream

The rain sings me lullabies
You stay awake for a few minutes
And just hold me, at 3 am
Kiss me now, you kissed me now

The author's comments:
A girl is forced to stay awake during a storm until her lover kisses her, as it is their ritual if they're both awake. As impatience comes over her she steals the kiss in order to go back to sleep.
