My Gravity
Blue eyes
Stare straight into me
Trying to read me
But I never let you in, not really
I knew you were walking away
And I didn’t know how to make you stay
So I got lost and stayed right here
I fell for your eyes and then your smile
I’d already known you for a while
Then you swept me off my feet
Asked me to believe
That taking away my gravity
Would help you hold me in the air
So you wouldn’t drop me so quickly
You took me for a walk
Rain falling in little drops
We sat down on our special rock
You were going to teach me how to believe
But all the time never would have been enough
Because I loved you far too long
To understand anything was wrong
I fell for your eyes and then your smile
You promised me you’d stay a while
Then you swept me off my feet
Made me believe
That taking away my gravity
Would help you hold me in the air
So you wouldn’t drop me so quickly
We sat by the water
Just us, an old fisherman
We sat on an old picnic table
We laughed about a movie we once saw
And talked about everything we once knew
You kissed me in the river the first time
I never knew…never knew a kiss could feel like that
I never knew you could kiss me like that
I fell for your eyes and then your smile
And your soul made me stick around a while
Then you swept me off my feet
Made me believe
That taking away my gravity
Would help you hold me in the air
So you wouldn’t drop me so quickly
I taught you how to walk barefoot
You taught me how to laugh a lot
You showed me how to trust
How to open myself up
You taught me how to dance
And I taught you how to hold my hand
How could I have known when we first met
You would change my life so profoundly?
I fell for your eyes and then your smile
Thought you’d really stick around a while
Then you swept me off my feet
Made me believe
That taking away my gravity
Would help you hold me in the air
So you wouldn’t drop me so quickly
I could feel the distance growing
But I wasn’t ready to stop knowing you
Showing you, I loved you
I just didn’t know how
I wanted to make you stay
But I got lost…and stayed right here
We went for a walk
And you said we need to talk
Time to go our separate ways
It was such a cliché
But that’s something I always loved about you
You opened car doors
Picked me flowers
Told me I was beautiful
Standing there in the rain
And I’m not ready to feel like this
Would I ever be ready to feel like this?
I never wanted to feel like this
Because of you
I fell for your eyes and then your smile
I promise you, I’ll still love you for a while
When you swept me off my feet
I really believed
That taking away my gravity
Would help you hold me in the air
So you wouldn’t drop me so quickly
