The Imperfect Sense
Call me any name you want
It's just another word.
Writhing like a sun-kissed wine,
or flying like a bird.
I hold your hand so close now,
as though it were my own.
Forsaken tears forgotten,
Skin as pale as bone.
I think I know you now
I thought I know you then
Too scared to let you go
Too scared to let you in.
"You're a hypocrite" "You're ignorant"
Fights we fail to lose
Although losing our battles
Is something that we choose.
Flaws that I can't see through
Things I can't let go
Tearing apart the truth
Until it doesn't even show.
Silent laughing crystal eyes
Seeing who I am
If only I knew who you were
I'd laugh along again.
Clasped like a necklace
Embrace so hard it hurts
Alone again perpetually
But you're not at your worst.
Lay down under a ceiling
Only this moment matters
Innocence forgotten
Everything else shatters.
Unexplainable reasons
That make no sense at all
Who? What? Why?
Questions when you call.
Songs that paint the wind
Dance across the sea
A name is just a word
Just like 'you' and 'me'.
