Come To Pay
Fighting soldiers, no one cares
Burn the books and burn the hairs
Off their bodies the skin peels
When you make this rotten deal
Football, parties, such a mess
I like it too, I must confess
Throw the ball and push em' back
Not at all thinking of attack
But are we forgetting this moment, dear?
The one we live for, this day every year?
So many people gave up their lives
So many heroes, and heroes wives
Are grieving for their lives today
So come from far, and come to pay
Your respects to those who died for you
The ones that you owe your life to
So come from near, and come from far
Celebrate the ending war
Restless people are distraught
Let's being their families home tonight
And I know you can feel it to
The gloom that's passing over you
The love in this country today
Is only for this given day
The one that we remember most
We link arms and raise a toast
To those who gave up their lives
All those heroes wives
Are so happy that we remember
Every single glowing ember
That was on the ground that day
That we know, we've come to pay
