Brash and Sudden
You smile gently and say goodnight,
But I’m not ready to let you go.
The night is cold
And I’m so sick of being alone.
This may be sudden,
And just a little brash,
But won’t you stay?
Stay a little longer here with me.
Maybe you can warm up
This vacant place, for a while.
Maybe you can cure
This empty ache, if just for a little while.
I know this is sudden
And not like me at all.
But won’t you stay?
Please, just a little longer here with me.
Because maybe you know what it’s like,
To be cold and alone.
Because maybe, just maybe
You need me too.
You’re always so cautious
And never this reckless,
But won’t you stay?
Stay with me.
