How did this happen
“when you came up behind me, in your silent brand new sneakers…”
I never knew you’d be the one
I never knew I’d fall in love
I figured you were just a nerve
I ignored all the signs and told myself you were
Just a figment
But my imagination isn’t strong enough to build you up
“your reflection I did not see…”
I never saw anything of me in you
I never noticed how are smiles always arrived at the same time
I never realized we followed the same rhythm
I never thought twice
On the fact that our words came out at once
And matched perfectly
“from your mouth speaks your lovely voice…”
A ringing of birds
On a warm spring evening
The beat of a love song
The notes dripping through us
The sound of our hearts pulsing as one
The softest words ever spoken
“And my body is wrapped in debris…”
Cluttered with thoughts of you
Everything else
Just pilled on
I can’t clean it all
And if I throw it away
I’ll have nothing to see when your gone
Nothing to look back on
“Your sitting next to me reading the paper…”
If only you would read my heart
Or the movement of my eyes over you
Instead of my heart
You hold the paper
Instead of my eyes
You stare down at blank words
“…I Put Your Arm Around Me…”
