Remember Me MAG

March 11, 2010
By Anonymous

Do you remember me? I'm the girl
You knocked down in the hall.
You were in a rush, and I guess
I must have blended in with the wall.
Is that what happened? Or is it
You were moving just too fast
And all the things you're rushing by,
Do you know what you've gone past?
Do you remember me? I'm the girl
Who laughed, the girl who can do no wrong.
I'm the girl who can't do anything,
Who never will belong.
Or am I mistaken?
Was that role taken,
By all the girls told that they're “unique”?
Let's be honest, it's a synonym for “freak.”
At least, that's what we think
And the magazines claim –
So now, the truth, the revolution,
It's time to proclaim:
I screw up, and I'm messed up,
I see a shrink, and that's okay.
I don't fit the perfect picture
That we all try to portray.
Do you remember me? I'm leading
A revolution starting now.
If you remember me,
We'll change the world, I vow.
Will you remember me? Or more importantly,
Will you remember what I've said?
I may only be a fleeting star,
One day, I will grow cold.
But if you look up to the stars tonight
You'll see more than pinpricks of light
Wisdom shines and wisdom's released,
As you wish on a star that's deceased.
But it's okay, if you remember me,
Do you remember me? I'm here.
But one day when my light is gone,
Don't let me disappear.
Fading into walls, we bury ourselves
In the go-go-go rush, modern hurries.
Everyone needs to be told,
We share all the same worries.
Will they like me? Do I even
Matter to anyone? And will I
Live on to be happy or
Just go away after I die?
I hate this stress and this pain,
Depression, wonder if I'm sane.
I'm tired, and I only want to go to bed.
I've gotta do everything else instead.
I wonder if anyone else would agree
Or if no one will ever join me.
Are these everybody's thoughts,
Or am I the only one?
If you are like me, come and join me
The revolution's begun.
And we'll fight the modern world in sync,
And let free the secret thoughts we think.

:) No worries.  If you ever need someone to talk to, remember that there are so many people out there who care.  Even people who have never met you!  I've learned... there is so much love in the world.

Thank you for writing this poem; it's just what I need now. This is so me, and I'm glad that there's someone else out there who can relate.

That is so exciting! I am glad that it was able to be shared.  What state do you live in, out of curiosity? I wonder how far away someone actually read something I wrote...

Me and my Creative Writing teacher read your poem aloud, it was our model teen ink for the day. Everyone really enjoyed hearing it. I thought you were very open and honest. Your poem is exceptional. I absolutely loved it. Keep up the good work (: -Taylor

Thank you so much :) That means a lot to me.  I was very upset when I realized that I wrote "said" instead of "told" and screwed up the rhyming.

Haha! That's funny. Haha. I play guitar and sing a bit. I'm also teaching myself. Either way, this song was amazing. :)

As always,
Da Rae.

I just realized something... in a line in my poem, it was supposed to say, "Will you remember what I've told", but said what I've SAID" instead. which them makes it not rhyme with cold.  sorry about that, and know that it was supposed to be "Told." It sounds better that way.

Yes and No.  I play guitar - or try to - by teaching myself.  Unfortunately, I don't always have that much time to play, with school and Ultimate Frisbee, and clubs, yadda yadda yadda.  But in the ideal world I would have lots more time to play, and would be able to answer your question with a resounding, "YES, I play guitar".
