November's Day
Light and agile paws pad through the buffalo grass
Cornering an array of color on an overcast day
Tail straight the avid Hunter poised
The prey stared unblinkingly still on instinct
And without notice of surrounding life
A cloud of feathers fills the sky
Praise for the hunt on November’s day
And the breadth cuts through the air
Tears freeze from deep coal eyes
Burrs cover her stream-lined coat
A golden red back drop so fair
No malice could be felt from her
Only excitement and the inner nature
Head held high, scent on a slight breeze
The proud hunter closes her eyes
And slowly drifts to sleep
