Hello, This Is Reality
Today wasn’t her perfect day
She strives to throw the past away
She wipes away tears that they can’t see
Each a tear for something that won’t be
Each ring on her phone she ignores
She shuts the windows, and closes the doors
Hunger cries within her head
As she sits upon her bed
Each meal has gone untouched
Each bite is a bite too much
She is slowly wasting away
More and more with each day
Just like the painful past
She’s not expecting this to last
She acts as if it’s all okay
Pretending it’s a better day
Lying to herself about the previous
Telling herself it didn’t exist
Saying that nothing ever happened
So there’s nothing to keep her saddened
She curls up upon her bed
Saying it’s just all in her head
She must have fallen asleep and had herself a bad dream
Her heavy eyelids slowly close
And she heads into the world unknown
Screaming sirens pass through her thoughts
With each minute she becomes a little more lost
Hooked up to an IV
Her cold hands held by uncertainty
White coats pass through the room
The silence foreshadowing the possible doom
Upon her bedside table sits a forgotten phone
Left behind, and all alone
The phone rings-unheard by all
She has missed her last call
(Voicemail)
Hi, just leave me a message after the tone
I’m sorry I couldn’t get to the phone
*beep* hey, I just wanted to say that I am sorry
I just hope that you can forgive me
I hope we can put the past behind us
And I hope I haven’t lost all of your trust
I really want to try being better
Nothing seems right without us together
I am sorry If I made you cry…
I guess I’m done, goodbye
All the words she’s wanted to hear
Ever since that last year
The whine of a single line
Cries out one last time
