It's In Everything
I have vices and addictions
They’re not bottles or prescriptions
You wouldn’t know them
I seldom show them
But there’s a high that I’ve been chasing
Advice and warnings that I’m wasting
Burn it all
Then I fall
My thoughts on repeat, every little thing
It reminds me, bringing memories
Am I dying, I can’t feel my feet
It’s in everything, It’s in everything
Do you see me, walls are closing in
You can’t reach me, the air is getting thin
Your words eat me, the light is growing dim
It’s in everything, It’s in everything
I’m a fabricator and a farce
Leaving everyone in the dark
Can you tell it
The bloodhounds smell it
In the closet under a baseboard
Hiding things is all that I’m good for
It just comes natural
I’m rarely factual
My thoughts on repeat, every little thing
It reminds me, bringing memories
Am I dying, I can’t feel my feet
It’s in everything, It’s in everything
Do you see me, walls are closing in
You can’t reach me, the air is getting thin
Your words eat me, the light is growing dim
It’s in everything, it’s in everything
Don’t overanalyze these lyrics
I swear it doesn’t mean a thing
Cause I’m fine
I’m not lying
This is just a song to sing

This is a piece about anxiety, depression, and the burden of suppressing these thoughts, and it was written at a vulnerable moment in my life. The ending, "Don’t overanalyze these lyrics / I swear it doesn’t mean a thing / Cause I’m fine / I’m not lying / This is just a song to sing" represents how people sometimes reveal their hurt and immediately downplay what they've just said.
