That Day
That day was perfect – a mega cliché,
Blue sky, birds chirping –in the middle of May…
You stood at my locker as our conversation ensued,
You stood there and promised that you’d always be true.
Now it’s September and the sky is aglow,
Reminiscent of that day a mere four months ago.
You have soured that memory with your lies and your tales,
All showing up on your record of fails.
Now we are at a party with some of my friends,
You approach and attempt to make amends.
I blow you off, not wanting to sour,
Another day of my life, not even an hour.
I will never let you ruin this day,
So I leave and you watch me as I walk away.
