I Have an Excuse I Swear!
I said I’d take the garbage out but something crazy came along
As I was taking the bin to the curb I saw a bear singing a song!
He was wearing a tie that kept on jumping up and down his chest
He sang a song of joy and glee with a certain sort of jest
He saw me standing all in shock, and ran like a bullet, knocking the bin out of my hands
So you see it wasn’t my fault; it was not part of the plan!
I said I’d wash the dishes but something amazing arrived before my eyes
The coo-coo bird from the kitchen clock came alive, and took me by surprise
The clock kept tick tick ticking as I tried to shoo him away
But he wouldn’t quite co-operate, and much to my dismay
He took my cloth and soap in his beak and flew into the sky
He was a thief in the night; don’t tell me that I’m crazy, I sure do not know why
These things keep on popping up, it’s odd, but I swear that they keep happening
And that’s why I didn’t take our dog out for a walk, and now he won’t stop yapping
You see I swear I saw the sun wink at me, and the moon creep out from its behind
For a minute I thought I was insane and going completely out of my mind
So I went outside to the backyard to take a better look;
The suns rays kissed my face, and my whole body shook
I’m sorry I didn’t feed the cat or clean my room,
I’m sorry I didn’t rake the yard or pick up the broom,
I’m sorry I didn’t make the lunches, or do the laundry,
I’m sorry I didn’t cook dinner, or organize the pantry,
I’m sorry I didn’t get it done, but I really try to listen to what you say
I’m sorry I didn’t do what you asked, but you wouldn’t believe what happened today!
