Three Haiku + One
I
Birds flit through the leaves,
clutching breakfast (juicy worms)
in their razor beaks.
II
The pine trees alight,
crumbling under the tongues
of a starving blaze.
III
Charred remains of life
emanate wisps of gray smoke
that snake to the clouds.
IV
There are no more birds.
