Cottonmouth
A snake with a tongue like tissue
Cotton and kind
Clasps its teeth
Onto the finger of an uncle
A field untouched
But by little boys
Who like cats
And pray for the Kool-Aid man
A mother and a father
Watch on the porch
Call for dinner
And kiss three sunburnt heads
Three little boys come racing home
Through corduroy mud
And race back out an hour later
To find another snake
