Self-Love
Unwind yourself from your toxic thoughts
and open your mind to the sky, for you will
fall in love with the stars and imagine yourself
twirling in their infinite gravitational loop.
Don’t pick apart your flesh and pave your
stomach so it’s as flat as a map; the earth
was made round, darling, with beautiful
mountains and valleys and craters, just like you.
Breathe in and out until your lungs swell
with sunlight, shining and glowing so
you can keep yourself warm at night,
even when icicles try to pierce your skin.
Fill your mind with melodies of laughter,
swirling like marigold-colored music. Listen
to every symphony; it will sound like your
voice, like the ocean’s harmony to the sky.
Love yourself entirely, for the world did
not waste billions of stars to create someone
like you, whose eyes are northern lights
and whose smile is a gleaming rainbow.
