Shoes
People say that they are
Only shoes.
But they don’t understand that
This was the biggest purchase
I’ve ever made.
The 130 dollar pair of shoes I wear
Right now are special.
Why?
Well because I bought them with my own
Money, that I earned, by myself,
No one else.
I brag but it isn’t excessive it’s just me saying
“Hey, I bought these myself.”
I’m not an egocentric a**hole
I’m just proud.
If I hurt your feelings for being proud
Then you are the one who has issues
Not me.
So the next time you say my shoes
Aren’t that special, just remember
How you felt when you bought something
Expensive for yourself.

I wrote this because my step-dad is always saying that I spend too much on shoes and that they are only shoes. This poem put how I feel when people say these things.
