last night
your sinning eyes
of yesterday’s fate
the falling voices,
the streaming ache.
down the cheek of innocence,
a streak of greed and some resilience
yet dignified here you will stay
while i will crumble within your face
and you will smile your goofy gleam
that spells out “don’t be mad at me.”
but you always said i’m cute when mad,
a teasing voice,
another laugh
“hey i love you b,”
he whispers fast,
and it was never more than that.
