Two-tone poem

Most of the time I’m a nightmarish blue—
A deep void missing any emotion,
Growing like a cancer to engulf the light
I am lost…
Hiding in the depths of my own mind,
Fearing whether those around me are real
Yet when light shines through I erupt into a exuberant red—
Engulfed in color, curiosity and emotion,
Illuminating myself and those around me.
I am found!
Passion, creativity, and life pouring from my soul,
A rare occurrence that, like all things, is eventually extinguished.
Again I am a nightmarish blue adrift in darkness...
