The morning
Anxiety wakes herself up at the break of dawn
waiting for her crusty eyes to break open
lying on her bed underneath a million layers of blankets
Anxiety pushes herself up out of bed
to the bathroom, to brush her teeth
eyes barely open looking straight in the mirror with blurred vision
Anxiety goes downstairs for breakfast
to pick out of the four boxes of waffles her mom bought her
leaving the freezer door open and a screaming parent behind her yelling, "CLOSE THE DOOR!"
cereal it is
Anxiety realizes it's 7:30 and she once again took too long eating her breakfast
this is when anxiety feels the start of her panic episodes kicking in
she runs, fast up the stairs, to her bedroom
throws on her usual leggings and a sweatshirt because it's comfortable and socially acceptable
Anxiety grabs her backpack
filled with a crappy lunch and a day old plastic water bottle
slips on her overused and bruised 2015 black vans
and looks in the foyer mirror
Anxiety analyzes herself
scanning up and down
thinking out loud, "My hair is a mess, I've worn this same sweatshirt for three days, and I forgot to charge my iPad."
Why does she keep doing this to herself
Anxiety takes a deep breathe
grabs her car keys and
runs out the door
Anxiety has taken over her life
and it's just the morning
