mango juice MAG
my sister drinks mango
juice in the kitchen,
she sways to an imaginary
beat and taps her feet
against the blue-tile floor,
(her thoughts are melting
into the air, i try to catch
them but they slip through
my fingers and suddenly
they are no more) and
my sister smiles, she stares
at the ceiling (i look up too but
i only see cracks in the plaster
white sky), she prays under her
breath, whispers her dreams
softly, untangles her requests
from her skin and lets them
escape; my sister watches as
they dissolve, drinking
her mango juice from
a chipped glass and singing
in a language i do not
understand.
