When soil is watered in blood
when the red sea lives up to its name
when we choose to play the screech of a gun
rather than the drum in our hearts
those are the times where we must plant
our feet into the soil
like trees
expand our roots
realize that we grow from the same ground
And we must stop trying to
chop each other into
lumber
