You Were There
I stand there
Ready
For all the wars
I know I won't win
You stand there
Ready
Watching them load
Their guns, for the kill
I hide in shelters
Hoping my refusual
To show myelf
Will make them leave
You stand outside
Watching as I stumble
Trying to keep myself
Together
I start to beg
Beging the man
To give me bread
Knowing I won't last
Much longer
You watch
As I walk home
Head down
Shamefull steps
I stare
At the ceiling
I hope doesn't cave in
You sneak
Leaving a basket of bread
Near my door
Making no sound
I go outside
Ready
For all the pain
To hit me at once
You smile
Standing in front of me
Shielding me from
Painful bullets
I smile
Realizing
Superman came
Afterall.
