Ode to Fall
what’s better than the leaves
turning orange, brown, red
i look forward to it every year
makes me my happiest
big warm sweaters
sitting down by the cozy fire
family gathering for thanksgiving
delicious food, kind faces you’ve missed
the decorations go up for christmas
a nip begins to form in the windy air
if you’re lucky there’s snow
beautiful flakes create a blanket of white
christmas parties and gift exchanges
smiles all around
so special to me
i’ll never quite know the reason
maybe it’s the steaming hot chocolate
or the festive songs played in every store
because please tell me
what’s better than the leaves
turning orange, brown, red
