There once was a girl.

She was quiet,
She was laughing,
She was screaming,
She was crying.
She was lost in the world
But knew her place
At the same time.

She spent her days dreaming
Of things that weren’t real.

She dreamed of love and peace,
Somewhere she could be happy.
But a place like that doesn’t exist.

If you ask,
She’ll say she’s happy.
And somehow she is.
But there’s something wrong.
Something
Is never quite right.

What she wants
Is to be liked
By everyone
And remembered
By no one;
Missed
By no one.
So she could go out one day and find
A beautiful grassy spot on the ground
Where beautiful butterflies fly
Everywhere around
And the sun radiates to her body,
Warming her and the ground around her.
The birds sing
And a song can be heard
In her dream
In her perfect scenario
She lays there
Quiet.

With no one to bother her
She falls asleep
As the leaves and twigs and grass
Start growing around her
She sleeps
As her hair transforms into leaves
And flowers
Start growing from her chest
And ants make homes
In her hands and her feet
And she becomes part of the earth itself.
Sharing.
Palpitating.
Pulsing.
Growing.

And finally
With no one to remember her
No one to know she’s even there
And with a smile on her face
She’s finally able to sleep
Happy and at peace.
And all that is left of her
Is a sunflower growing
In the middle of a meadow
And a faint memory
In the hearts of anyone who had loved her.

Not strong enough to make them remember
But strong enough to get a sad smile
Of these people when they walked
In front of a meadow
Where on top of a mound of dirt
A sunflower is growing
And looking at the sun.
