Ode to Morning
The Sun kisses the horizon and nature goes wild,
Ecstatic that she loves it so.
An explosion of color illuminates the sky
And with a trill conducts the choir
That excitedly begins to sing a hymn of praise.
I feel my heart swell with their emotions
And I soar to my window on wings of dewdrops and cobweb
To see the little girls in their ruffled dresses
As they awaken with delicate stretches
And unfold their petals to reveal the diamonds upon them
To their lovers who are dressed in fur coats of fine yellow
Or wear emerald cravats and ruby ties as they hum to their wives.
I want to sing along to nature’s magical dance
And I feel myself awaken within
When I see the golden mother emerge fully.
She sees her child and smiles
And that beam throws the trees into a frenzy of joy,
So they preen their scaled shawls and toss their feathery hair
In the hopes of winning her attention.
Soon the show subsides into a lazy hum of happiness
And I applaud before returning to my world
And enjoying the next most wonderful thing:
Coffee.
