Twilight's Adieu
Billowing from the horizon,
A gradually brightening plume
Of colors whispers at the night.
Surrounded by dimming darkness,
Pink grows comfortable,
Letting the whole world see its blush,
And as black gives way to dawn-blue,
Orange screams in excitement,
Bathing all in warm rays.
A deep red clings to edge of earth,
A thin smile streaking the sky,
As purple clouds hang lightly, sweetly,
Kissing goodbye the remaining shadows.
Before long, bright blue
Is painted over morning’s canvas,
Washing the sky with a new day,
Leaving only remnants of memories
In those who watched rising colors die.
