The Handprint of Humanity (the problem with Conformity)
Dust covers
Our pale fingers
As we stared
At the smoke filled sky
We breathe in poison air
As we dig through the dirt
Searching
Searching for a scrap of hope
In times of need
Our backs are turned as war wages behind us
People call out
Hoping for help
But we respond with
Silence
Silence filling the air
Swirling around us
And pulling us in
Fear fills our heart
And drags us down to our knees
We are scared to respond
We are afraid to be
Different
Different from everyone else
Society has conformed us
Don't speak of individuality
Don't speak of the cracks in our politics
Don't speak of our dying Earth
Don't strike out
Conform

I have very strong opinions on the way we treat our Earth, politics, and society. I like my poetry to reflect this.
