If You Have
If you have traveled far and wide then you must know how hard I've Tried
If you have merely touched fate before then you must know what fear is for
Now you have crossed the line
Now you don't know where to go
But if you have looked into a demon's eyes
Then you sure as hell know what your shield is for
I came home with a river flooding down my eyes
How was I to know it was my hate?
You came home smiling
I came home crying
My heart has thorns
Your heart has wishing wells with coins
I had thought I could soar alone
But then I fell and broke apart
Why must I conceal the pain
If only I had known there were golden boats
I did not know there were gaurdian angels still back home
I want to return home
I want to no longer be burned
If you have traveled far and wide then you must know how hard I've tried
If you merely touched fate before then you must know what fear is for
Now you have crossed the line
Now you don't know where to go
Why have you run away from home
And come to my planet Earth
I had thought I could soar alone
But then I fell and broke apart
I did not know there were gaurdian angels still back home
I do not want another stone
Thrown to slice away the bone
So if that is why you have come
Then I must war you
That I'm already half rotten to my core
I do not want another blow
I do not want another stain
So please
If you must stay
Take away the pain
Of my fate

This poem was inspired my the poems of Maya Angelou. I realize she has passed on, and that is sad, though she really was something and I know she will be remembered well. Technically, this poem is about a young woman, probably in her early 20s who is religious and looking out for any sign of help. She wants to no longer feel this way about her sins, she wants to "no longer be burned".
