Falling out of love with my socks
White cotton ankle highs with white lace around the top,
with pink slip on shoes,
and pink and yellow polka dot skirt,
all topped off with a yellow shirt.
The little girl glides around the house.
With her little cousin,
who really isn't so little compared to the girl with the white lace socks.
They race around,
while the dads watch the race on tv,
the little girl with the white lace socks,
like a nuclear explosion,
trips over her dad's feet,
falling so hard the world crumbles.
The rush of hands helping the little girl ,
scared her more then the blood on her new white lace socks.
Her yellow shirt no longer yellow,
and her face now open from the bottom,
she looks on tv as house shatters in chaos.
The race has ended in an accident,
a 17 car pile up,
the race like the little girls white lace socks are no longer perfect.
The cars are smashed ,
And her socks are demolished.
