Constricted
Constricted
Anxiety is gruesome
Its restraint is inescapable
Gripping around your veins
Helplessly unbreakable
They say it’s all just in your head
But they’ve never seen it
Never felt the dread
This hold throws me into a fit
Even if you pull yourself up
You are followed around
Tempted to backup
Fall to the ground
Anxiety is gruesome
You may grapple and struggle
Unnoticed will go your strains
The end is the only day your mind will rest

I have extreme anxiety and one way I've been able to cope with it is through writing. This is a poem written around 1 a.m. on a lonely night when my anxiety was at its worst.
