The Tiger That Killed Its Keeper
I know loyalty:
I feel a pulse
deep within the ground,
that rolls up to meet my skulking paws.
The warmth seeps through,
catching in the moonlight
as it drips off my claws.
I watch the others submerge themselves in loyalty.
They close their eyes as it drags them down.
They are so unaware that I watch them.
They are so full of bliss, and they are so selfish.
Their greed cements their doom
as I sit in the shadows
and wait.
Loyalty, I admire.
Those who are loyal,
they are fools.
I will outrun loyalty
like I’ve outrun every hunter,
and I will respect
my fellow predator.
