Spring Melts Into Summer
Petals drift idly by,
floating atop fresh gutter streams.
The air feels warm,
the heat smells fresh.
Trees don their newest collection of colors,
and the sun strains to stay in the sky,
like a man hanging from the cliff
by the ends of his elbows
if only to stare at all of us
a little while longer.
