6:55 AM
Sunrise shimmers far away,
but this morning I am a giant,
a giant who could simultaneously yawn and stretch
and brush my hand against the sun.
I, the giant,
could cup the sunrise in my hands and
peer down at its glow in drowsy wonder.
I do know that the sunrise would be too light
in my youthful and enormous hands,
and I would squeeze too tightly,
staining my fingers with yellow soul.
This road-
countless times I have driven across its back,
but today,
hurling towards the sun,
I do not want to find this road’s end,
not ever.
