The Fucked Up Generation
You want us to be believe in our own beautiful, in a world where a certain set aesthetics mean everything.
In a world where how we dress has more value than what we think.
You teach us to want what we cannot have, because we have been taught that he who has the most is the happiest.
You tell us that alcohol is not the answer, with a drink in your hand.
You teach our young girls that skinny is the new beautiful, and that less is the new sexy.
You tell them that sex does not mean cool, but you put nearly naked girls in our magazine and posters.
You tell out little boys that women are not objects, as you sell magazines with naked women in them.
You teach them that success comes with finding a six figure job, a trophy wife, and a picket fence house.
You tell our boys that that dancing and dressing up is not for men.
You tell our children that their dreams are possible, but put wall upon wall in their paths.
You told us that you love us all the same, but when it comes down to it, you will always have a favourite.
You raised our teenagers to believe that suicide is the answer,
Raised a teenager who believe in cutting their wrists rather than accepting that they are a different kind of beautiful.
You, raised us.
You, filled our heads with the wrong ideas.
And then, You, all full of false mightiness call us
The F***ed Up Generation
Look at yourself in the mirror.
Before you go around calling us F***ed Up.
Instead, You should spread the message that we are all beautiful in our own way.
You should spread that we should only have what we need.
That it doesn’t matter how much we have, but instead teach us to appreciate the things we do have.
You should tell our young girls that strong is the new beautiful and intelligence is the new sexy.
You should teach them that sex should only happen, with a family in mind.
You should teach our little boys that being weak is not a bad thing, and that the only moment they should call a woman mine, is when they have a ring around their fingers.
You should teach our children that they can be whatever they want.
You should teach them that success only comes when you become the best version of yourself.
You should tell our children to speak up, to shout the things they believe in.
You should encourage them to dream big.
You should teach them that not everyone of them will be loved the same, but we all have the same worth.
You should show them that suicide is not the answer. That wrists should only be for bracelets.
That there’s a storm before the calm.
Our generation can still be saved.
You might not believe it.
But we do.
We still have hope in ourselves
Before teaching us to destroy our future,
Teach us to build our present.
Sincerely: The f***ed up generation
