I Dance Like the Fireflies
With every move I make, I feel myself slipping away
Like a child picking up sand for the first time and watching in horror as it falls through the crevasses formed with their gaping fingers
It's unwilled, unwanted, and unstoppable
Like the sand slowly falling, we all must melt away
I've started to melt
I stare at the sun just to feel the sting in my eyes
I dance like the fireflies alone in the night
I cry uncontrollably, but like a fish in water, no one can see my tears fall
I've laughed and cried like all the rest
I've been to every rehearsal and even performed in the plays, but I don't feel the joy
I've had the flowers fall on me but I'm still scared of the color
So with fear surrounding me, I'll forever shut my eyes
