"I wanted you to see what real courage is, instead of getting the idea that courage is a man with a gun in his hand. It's when you know you're licked before you begin but you begin anyway and see it through to the end no matter what."

O sky, take thee away.

Absorb thee in thy currents,

Thou limiltess paths intrigue,

From darkened plains away

They lead.

Summon thee with a graping hand,

Too gentle to hurt but too firm to

Let thy slither away,

Betweenst cracks.

For thou shadows structure me,

With hardened mystery

In an elusive shell thou build.

Uscathed once before, but now

Crumbling in ruin.

Tortured head beats with swirling

Rage, incapacitated movement sinks

Below waves.

Eyes reach towards the heavens

Seeking redemption,

for time closes its final pagers and

the chapter is all but vanquished.

Rescue thy, before waves crash o'er

Eternally

And thou are laid to rest.

Thou sweetest love, all in a dream.

The author's comments:

I wrote this poem while I was in a hard place mentally and wished to convey the struggle going inside my head. I believed that this piece could be relatable to people who were suffering in similar circumstances and by reading, they'd understand that they are in fact not alone.
