Stuck In Reverse
The leaves are my strength and the twigs are my shelter
Voracious as I can be, but still I’m a predator
I can only do so much, I can never go too far
Not like this, a dreadful and horrible caterpillar
The leaves are my shelter and the twigs are my strength
For I will discover magic within this chrysalis
For within the cocoon I will grow my own wings
And thanks to the leaves and twigs, I’ve become like this
The transformation, from dull and slow
To a graffiti of vibrant colors that glow
I never thought that I could ever be
Something embodying aesthetic beauty
But I never wanted to leave the tree
Despite being able to hover freely
From flower to flower, from pollen grain to another
The twigs, the leaves, are still the best shelter
If only I could grow in reverse
And stray from such a beautiful curse
I’d let go of all hues and tints
To pursue a reverse metamorphosis.
