It seemed so far in the distance,
I had almost missed the turn.
I was marveling
at the vibrant billboards,
the grand marquis,
all documenting my past,
And the skyscrapers
stretched beautifully into the clouds,
all laying out my next steps.

All of the sudden, I was
forced down the dark, dreary
Unfamiliar
street.
I saw nothing but an empty, black pit-
they called it my Future.
Then I stepped,
stepped carefully,
carefully,
to the edge of my Future.
Hearing nothing but silence,
Seeing nothing but vastness-
the jagged edge.
Uncertainty.
I am pushed.
I plunge over the edge.
Straight down,
owned by gravity.
Falling,
falling through
the rubble and dust
blinded to everything,
suffocated under
the pressure.
Flailing,
trying to cling
to any tiny ledge.

Suddenly,
around me
specks surround me.
Bright and blinding,
Specks of the hope
I once had and had assumed
were lost as well,
But I am lifted.
The air stops rushing,
I can breath again,
my body starts adjusting
to the specks
that seem to be brushing
on my shoulders.
My wings!
My speckled wings!
I soar upwards from the rock bottom
I laugh!
As those who pushed me,
thinking I would fail
thinking there was no hope,
standby in awe.
Of what I have become
Of where my wings have led me.
Towards the skyscraper
I had been marveling at from so far
in the distance.
