An Apology to the Earth
The dirt is turning my pale hands muddy
and with every snap beneath them, I cringe
I can hear it rising from the ground
The Earth is screaming
I look down at the broken tulip bulbs in my palms
It doesn't feel right to remove nature's children from her breast
Why must they be uprooted if we are
Why must the Earth scream for the satisfaction of a decorated windowsill
